"It felt like it was a postseason game, one out at a time," said his manager. "It was something special to see."
The 41-year-old Thompson picked up his 100th career victory at Honolulu Stadium. He hurled 4 innings, gave up no hits and registered 4 strikeouts along with no walks.
"I've worked a long time for this," Thompson said. "I can't believe it's really here. It feels great!"
Thompson owns a 100-82 won-lost record with a 3.75 ERA for his career. In 352 games he has recorded 7 saves and the 41-year-old has 1589 strikeouts in 1614 innings of work.
