| Pioneers Hitless Against Maldonado Friday, July 14th , 2045 Excitement reigned at Pioneers Park as Mexico City Marauders hurler Marcos Maldonado tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter.
After defeating the San Francisco Pioneers, 2-0, he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments.
"I'm just glad to be here," Maldonado said. "Today I just went right at the Pioneers as hard as I could, as long as I could."
Maldonado, who leads the UL in innings pitched with 148.0, chalked up 4 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk in his superb performance.
"I don't think they could have stopped him with a howitzer today," said Mexico City manager David Fields.
Looking at his season stats, Maldonado has won 12 and lost 6, collecting 135 strikeouts and 50 walks in 148 innings with a 2.80 ERA.
