 | Firebirds Out of Time, Out of Playoffs Monday, July 18th , 2044 The Phoenix Firebirds were stuck in the middle this season -- not competitive enough in the playoff chase to be considered relevant, but not far enough behind to be completely written off. Until now, that is -- today, the Firebirds were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Phoenix last appeared in the postseason in 2036. This is their 8th consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 14 times in their 21-year history.
