 | Mammoths Smallman Booms 3 HRs Friday, July 29th , 2044 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the New York Empire. Montreal shortstop David Smallman tripled up on the home runs to propel the Mammoths to a win, 17-6, at Empire Ballpark. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," New York manager David Fields said. "Smallman hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Smallman collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 10 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." David Smallman walked in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Doug Ballentine in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Danny Ortiz in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Ricardo Penafiel in the 9th. In this current campaign Smallman is hitting at a .179 clip with 19 home runs and 46 RBIs. |   |
