| Bennett Rips Monterrey HS for 5 Hits Thursday, April 6th , 2045 After a 5-hit effort to lead Indianapolis HS's 14-4 victory over the Monterrey HS Rough Riders, shortstop Jason Bennett told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the FBL High School 1-level is really something special."
The 15-year-old player earned his accolades at Great American Ball Park with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Rough Riders.
"His swing is getting there," said Reds skipper , who spoke glowingly of Bennett after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Jason did that to perfection."
Jason Bennett hit a two-run double in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
This season, Bennett is swinging the bat at a .384 pace. He has hit 17 home runs and scored 40 times, while driving in 46. His on-base percentage is .480 and he has played in 29 games. | | |
