"I was in a groove," he said. "Every pitch they tossed up there looked like a grapefruit." For the day, the Monterrey HS catcher went 4-for-5 against Tegucigalpa HS with 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting that led the Rough Riders to the 12-2 win. "I tell you what. I'm shocked because I didn't think that last ball had enough to get out," he told BNN reporters in the clubhouse following the game. "I thought it was just going to be a long out." Alex Coronel hit a solo-shot off Pablo Olivas in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Julio Martines in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Ray Gonzalez in the 8th. Looking at his season stats, Coronel has compiled a .316 batting average and a .413 on-base percentage, while hitting 5 home runs and driving in 19 runs. |   |
