| Monarrez Swings for the Cycle Friday, April 15th , 2044 Sometimes one player's big day is enough to bring home victory and sometimes it isn't.
Unfortunately for Zapopan HS Huskies first baseman Armando Monarrez, today was the latter. Monarrez hit for the cycle at Huskies Park but his club still fell, 6-5, to the Austin HS Bucs.
"The cycle is nice but maybe it is a little overvalued," Monarrez said in a deserted locker room following the game. "A double, even a triple, they aren't worth much in isolation. Someone else needs to be hitting, too."
In addition to tallying 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run, the magnificent day for Monarrez included 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored for the Huskies.
Armando Monarrez walked in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Javier Lopez in the 8th.
Monarrez is currently batting .416 with 17 home runs, 46 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has 67 hits in 161 at-bats. | | |
