 | Summerford Clobbers 3 HR Against Grand Slam Friday, April 15th , 2044 It was a special day for Dave Summerford, but less so for the Los Angeles HS Speedsters. Summerford slammed three home runs against the Guadalajara HS Grand Slam, but the Grand Slam outhit him and got the win by a score of 12-10. "Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The Los Angeles HS first baseman finished the day at Speedsters Fields with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Dave Summerford hit a three-run home run off Willie Torres in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Willie Torres in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off German Hernandez in the 9th. This season, Summerford is swinging the bat at a .324 rate with 46 hits in 142 at-bats. To date he has hit 16 home runs, scored 41 runs and driven in 37. |   |
