 | Valerio Belts 3 HR for Diamondbacks Monday, May 12th , 2042 Wichita HS Diamondbacks first baseman Santiago Valerio slugged three home runs against the Charlotte HS Thunder Cats at Thunder Cats Ballpark, but couldn't win the game all by himself. The Thunder Cats spoiled his day by defeating the Diamondbacks, 12-9. "The loss puts a damper on the outstanding game Santiago had, but people will be buzzing about this for days to come," Wichita HS manager . "That's gotta be some consolation to him. But knowing Santiago, he would have preferred a win." For the game, Valerio was 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "The first two I got all of them and it was no doubt they were gone," Valerio said later. "It seemed like the wind helped it a little on that last one. I just wish Mother Nature had helped us win the game, too." Santiago Valerio flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Aaron Basco in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Manny Robles in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Casey Maxwell in the 7th and walked in the 9th. This year, Valerio has socked 53 hits in 141 at-bats for a .376 average with 19 home runs. He is getting on base at a .483 pace and his totals also include 54 RBIs and 40 runs scored. |   |
