 | Martinez Grabs SL1 Reliever of the Year Award Friday, May 26th , 2045 Carlos Martinez said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 18 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Matamoros HS Foresters rising star has won the Conference 1 Reliever of the Year Award for 2045. He captured the award on the strength of his 1.20 ERA over 15 innings. He also had 10 saves in 14 relief appearances, 18 strikeouts and only 3 walks. He received 17 first place votes out of a possible 30. Carlos Lizarraga of the Ecatepec HS Seawolves finished second in voting with 13 first place votes, while Carlos Serna of the Matamoros HS Foresters finished third.
