| Aviles Rips Cuernavaca HS for 5 Hits Monday, March 24th , 2042 Gil Aviles knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Puebla HS Stadium, he made his case to be considered among that group.
The 14-year-old center fielder hammered 5 hits in 7 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Puebla HS Peacocks fell, 19-15, to the Cuernavaca HS Mallards.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Mallards manager told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Aviles wasn't the difference."
Gil Aviles struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Juan Martinez in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 9th and struck out in the 10th.
Aviles is hitting .224 this year with 5 home runs and 13 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .323, 12 walks and scored 15 times. | | |
