Ings Blisters Delmas College

Toronto College first baseman John Ings went down swinging at Tasmanian Devils Park, knocking out 5 hits even as his Rangers fell, 11-10.

"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Ings said after his 5-for-6 performance against the Delmas College Tasmanian Devils. "No offense meant to Delmas College, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well."

After the game, his manager elaborated on the first baseman's improvements, saying Ings spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.

"That's what I'm trying to do," Ings agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."

John Ings doubled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Harry Arroyo in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

This year, Ings is batting .364 with 3 home runs. He has scored 11 runs and driven in 9.
