 | Red-Hot Bat: Aucoin Collects Cycle Wednesday, March 27th , 2041 Getting 5 hits in a game is no easy feat, but doing it to hit for the cycle is even more rare. Jared Aucoin of the Oklahoma City College Blue Claws pulled it off at Diamond Dawgs Grounds, going 5-for-6 against the Milwaukee College Diamond Dawgs. His batting escapades sparked the Blue Claws to a win, 9-5. Aucoin tallied 2 runs and drove in 3 during the game. Hitting for the cycle is particularly rare because of the different skills required - enough power for a home run, enough speed for a triple and enough patience at the plate to see at least four hittable balls. "It just happened," Aucoin said to reporters after the win. "Must have been fate or something, I wasn't expecting it. Heck, I wasn't even really trying for it." Jared Aucoin doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Joe Varga in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. This season, Aucoin is batting .422 with 13 home runs. He has scored 22 runs and driven in 30. |   |
