 | Jacobsma Joins 3-HR Club Thursday, April 20th , 2045 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Danny Jacobsma swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Sabercats Park, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Culiacan College Islanders were better. The Carrefour College Sabercats couldn't capitalize on the big game from Jacobsma and dropped the contest, 12-11. The mood in the Sabercats clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Islanders to spoil the day for Jacobsma. "Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Carrefour College manager said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level." In addition to the homers, Jacobsma collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Carrefour College center fielder told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3." Danny Jacobsma doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Steve Horn in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Jose Ramirez in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Felix Escobar in the 6th, struck out in the 7th, struck out in the 10th, walked in a run in the 11th and flied out in the 13th. For the season, Jacobsma has produced 69 hits in 190 at-bats for a .363 average with 25 home runs and gotten on base at a .415 clip. |   |
