| Renderos Hit String Snapped at 22 Friday, March 25th , 2044 Late in the game, all eyes in Keys Park were on Eduardo Renderos as he stepped into the batter box. His 22-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Renderos, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.
If there was a silver lining for Renderos, it was that his Laval College Keys won the game anyway, stopping the Zapopan College Golden Panthers by the score of 7-3.
"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Renderos told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 22 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
Renderos is hitting .402 this year with 14 home runs and 33 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .453, 7 walks and scored 25 times. | | |
