| Sands Tags Matadors for 5 Hits Tuesday, May 13th , 2042 The Fresno Rattlers stopped the Smith Village Matadors by a score of 10-9 at Matadors Grove, with the lion's share of the credit going to shortstop Andrew Sands. The 22-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Sands said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Sands did just that in his 7 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Matadors.
"Not much that I can say," offered Smith Village manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Andrew Sands struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 11th and singled in the 12th.
This year, Sands has hit at a .345 clip with 49 hits, 7 home runs, 24 RBIs and 26 runs scored. | | |
