 | Reliever Porcelli Will Retire

Jason Porcelli is stepping away from the game of baseball at the end of the season. The La Romana Limones player gave a brief explanation to reporters this afternoon.
"It's time to step away from the game and work on phase two of my life - world domination," the 36-year-old joked.
Porcelli wisecracked for several minutes while reminiscing about high and low points of his career. At the end of the session, Porcelli sent a personal message.

Westerville starting pitcher Kyle Schmitt suffered a season-ending injury throwing a pitch in today's game against the Horned Frogs. According to club doctors Schmitt has bone chips in his elbow. Although Schmitt has declined to comment, sources close to the player have stated that he is "devastated" that he will miss the playoffs. |  | Villegas Extends Hit Streak to 20 Games

Marcos Villegas, catcher for the Westerville Vikings, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 2 hits in his club's 10-7 victory over the Workmore Horned Frogs at Westerville Grounds.
"I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends."
Marcos Villegas walked in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Willie Camacho in the 8th.
In 13 games this season, Villegas has compiled a .391 batting average with 18 hits and 4 home runs. He has also scored 14 times and knocked in 14 runs. | | | |
