| Mayer 5-for-5 for Newark Sunday, May 18th , 2042 After a 5-hit effort to lead Newark's 9-5 victory over the Minneapolis Spirit, catcher Henry Mayer told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the FBL Double A-level is really something special."
The 24-year-old player earned his accolades at Silverbacks Grounds with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Spirit.
"His swing is getting there," said Silverbacks skipper , who spoke glowingly of Mayer after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Henry did that to perfection."
Henry Mayer singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Daniel Godinez in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Jose Figuero in the 8th.
