 | Pena Is King of Swing: Goes Deep 3 Times Friday, June 20th , 2042 Edwin Pena brutalized the Smith Village Matadors pitching staff, launching three home runs in the 13-1 Vancouver victory at Matadors Grove. The Vancouver Orcas shortstop was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day. "I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one." For the game, he went 5-for-6 with 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Too much Edwin Pena today," Matadors manager said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to." Edwin Pena grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Juan Hinojoza in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Alfonso Solis in the 5th, singled in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Jeff Capps in the 9th. Pena is batting .280 this season in 28 games with 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has 26 hits in 93 at-bats. |   |
