Minneapolis third baseman Pete Renick tripled up on the home runs to propel the Spirit to a win, 11-1, at Alliance Park.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Anchorage manager said. "Renick hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Renick collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Pete Renick hit a solo-shot off Jose Cervantes in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jose Cervantes in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 8th and struck out in the 9th. | | |
