Sanchez K's 11 En Route to 1-0 Pioneers Win
The San Francisco Pioneers downed the San Diego Luchadors, 1-0, at Luchadors Field. Stellar pitching by Ruben Sanchez had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who led the UL in ERA with 2.07 in 2031, handcuffed his opponent all game. San Francisco is now 31-32, while San Diego is 24-39.

Sanchez, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 11 in 7 innings and gave up no runs.

Sanchez, who finished 2nd in the UL in strikeouts with 170 in 2031, moves to 4-4 on the year with 90 strikeouts.

"I just try to put up zeroes," said Sanchez, "and let the rest take care of itself."
