The Phoenix Firebirds beat the Atlanta Peaches, 5-1, at Firebirds Ballpark. Phoenix catcher Danny Monter led the way. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Phoenix raised its record to 47-31 with the win.
Rich Unruh, who is a two-time All-Star, chipped in a 2-run home run for Phoenix in the bottom of the first. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
