The Oklahoma City Twisters beat the Phoenix Firebirds, 7-5. Oklahoma City pitcher and North Bay, Canada, native Jeremy Dowd led the way. The winning pitcher was Dowd, now 6-4. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 8. The United Central-leading Twisters have a record of 62-31.

Justin Porter had a big 2-run home run for the Twisters in the top of the fifth inning. With Oklahoma City leading 4-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Gus Marquez, who is tied for 2nd in the UL in complete games with 2, and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Twisters on top, 6-1.

"Jeremy just settled in and did what he does," said Oklahoma City manager David Fields.
