| Firebirds Take Nail-Biter Over Toltecs | The Phoenix Firebirds picked up a win at Firebirds Ballpark, taking down the Leon Toltecs, 5-4, in 11 innings. On the mound for Phoenix was left-hander Diego Fierro. He played a central role in the triumph. The Toltecs, now 33-74, have lost 9 in a row.
The Firebirds were down to their final out when right fielder Ezra MacPherson turned a 1-2 fastball from Aseffa Muthee into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the Firebirds Ballpark crowd go wild.
"It was bedlam at the end," MacPherson said.
