| Toronto Stumbles Again, Falls, 3-2, to New York | The New York Empire eked out a 3-2 win versus the Toronto Robbers at Empire Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Doug Ballentine. He was terrific. John Pilkington notched his 4th save of the season. The losing streak for Toronto has now reached 7 games.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Empire had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when shortstop Rich Myles hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Miguel Fernandez and made the score 1-0, Empire. Myles went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"Same old, same old, unfortunately," said losing manager David Fields. | | | | |
