| Makos Double Up Mammoths, 6-3 | The Miami Makos picked up a win at Honolulu Stadium, downing the Montreal Mammoths, 6-3. On the mound for Miami was right-hander Juan Magana, who played a pivotal role in the win. Miami, now 21-20, holds down second place in the Independent South.
John Ainsworth had a big 3-run home run for the Makos in the bottom of the first inning. With Miami leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Thomas Hau, who is tied for 3rd in the IL in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Makos on top, 4-0.
"Juan had good arm action, good stuff," said Miami manager David Fields. | | | | |
