| Empire Deal Mammoths 6-4 Setback | New York right-hander Josue Ortiz pitched his team to victory over the Montreal Mammoths at Empire Ballpark. The final score was 6-4. The winner was Ortiz. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 4 runs. The loser was Thomas Hau. New York is now 38-23.
Aaron Carmichael had a big 2-run home run for the Empire in the bottom of the first inning. With New York leading 3-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a changeup from Thomas Hau, who is tied for 3rd in the IL in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Empire on top, 5-0.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Ortiz told the New York Herald.
