| Makos Edge Mammoths, 5-4 | The Miami Makos trumped the Montreal Mammoths, 5-4, at Honolulu Stadium. Miami first baseman John Ainsworth was terrific. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The loss makes Montreal 57-49.
Ainsworth had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 2-1 fastball from John Coburn, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Makos a 5-2 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Ainsworth.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Miami manager David Fields. "It's usually not just one thing."
