Luchadors Get Clutch Win Versus Phoenix
Fans of the San Diego Luchadors who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a San Diego win over the visiting Phoenix Firebirds, 4-3. Mark Berry started for the home team against Bert Cole. Bert Cole earned accolades for his performance.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for San Diego. That's when Roberto Almaraz hit a 3-run home run off three-time All-Star Jose Hernandez to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

San Diego manager David Fields praised his team's "energy."
