| Firebirds Drop Another One, 9-1 | A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Atlanta Peaches and Phoenix Firebirds.
The Atlanta Peaches picked up a win, 9-1, over the Phoenix Firebirds at Firebirds Ballpark. Jesus Reyes led the charge. The Acapulco, Guerrero native went 2 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for Atlanta. Colin Denman went 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits. The right-hander, who finished 5th in the IL in innings pitched with 153.1 in 2029, struck out 6 and walked 0. With the win, he's now 1-1 this season.
Atlanta used the clutch hitting of Viriato Maximiano to snag the win. The first baseman drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Peaches ahead, 6-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"It's nice to see a lot of guys make contributions," said Peaches manager David Fields.
Phoenix, at 5-13, is off to a poor start in 2042.
