| 5-4 Loss Extends Leon Losing Streak | In a close game at Firebirds Ballpark, the Phoenix Firebirds edged the Leon Toltecs, 5-4. Phoenix catcher Danny Monter stood apart with his performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Gus Marquez got credit for the win, improving to 4-3. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings. The losses continue to add up for Leon, having now dropped 8 straight.
Monter contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Phoenix in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-2, Monter took a slider from Mitch Kroening and stroked the home run to left. His 6th home run of the season allowed the Firebirds to leap in front, 5-4.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Leon manager David Fields.
