 | Four-bagger Feast: Alvarado Slugs 3 for Zapopan College Sunday, April 20th , 2042 His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times Erick Alvarado swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at Gems Grounds, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the Cleveland College Gems were better. The Zapopan College Golden Panthers couldn't capitalize on the big game from Alvarado and dropped the contest, 11-10. The mood in the Golden Panthers clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Gems to spoil the day for Alvarado. "Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," Zapopan College manager said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level." In addition to the homers, Alvarado collected 5 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the Zapopan College second baseman told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3." Erick Alvarado grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Carlos Vigo in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Carlos Vigo in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Devon Sexton in the 7th and singled in the 9th. So far this season, Alvarado is batting .325 with 18 home runs, 50 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has 54 hits in 166 at-bats, 30 walks and a .429 OBP. Alvarado has played in 41 games. |   |
