| Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Toltecs, 4-2 | The Leon Toltecs moved to within one game of the World Series, downing the visiting San Francisco Pioneers at Toltecs Field by a score of 4-2. Toltecs right-hander Josh Neal had a strong outing in which he threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Toltecs a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Conference Championship.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Victor Ramos came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing San Francisco pitcher Ruben Sanchez, he hit a 2-2 curveball for a run-scoring double. It was a game-changer, putting Leon on top, 3-2.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Ramos told the Leon Herald.
Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Pioneers Park in San Francisco. | | | | |
